EMS is not a magical training system, as we so often see in many advertisements about it. It is rather an evolution of the training model that delivers more effective results. The evolution of working out, if you will.

1-    YOU CAN ONLY TRAIN a max of

2 x 20 MINUTES A WEEK:

This is an example of a complete incorrect interpretation of the scientific facts. Some investigations at the end of the 90’s and beginning of 2000’s determined that in certain contexts that training with electrical stimulation was really effective applying it in sessions of approximately 20 minutes (we see that electrical stimulation has many years ahead of it). These conclusions must be applied specially to sports men and woman that are specifically using EMS to build power and strength for explosive movements, training at the highest, frequency, intensity and pulse width. Usually professional sports men and woman who are also mechanically loading during training.

The number of trainings per week, as well as its duration and intensity will depend on the needs, goals, fitness and capabilities of each person. So, at FITtec.® we have designed programs for our clients that in some cases, have multiple sessions per week combining 20 minutes strength workouts and 30 minute cardio, endurance, HIT, HIIT and circuit workouts. Some clients come in once a week and some up to three times per week.

It is a responsibility of our FITtec.® EMS certified coaches to have sufficient education and experience to be able to decide on and to modulate the intensity, frequency  and duration of the electrical muscle stimulation session, in very case. If there are any health concerns, it will be necessary to get the approval of a Physician.  (Who also has good knowledge and experience on the topic).

2- IT SLIMS WITH ONLY 20 MINUTES A WEEK.

Excess weight and obesity are serious problems both at level of health of the individual and to epidemiologic level. It is because of the above-mentioned issue that more products and services are created to help the potential clients who are in this situation. Frequently, the marketing narrative is exaggerated in order to attract a big number of people and drive sales. Which is clearly unethical.

This is one of the main errors that has been committed in the sector of the electrical stimulation across the globe: To promise the impossible thing.

There is popular belief that you can train only 20 minutes a week, without taking care of your nutrition, and lose the desired weight. This is not true. There is an old saying, you can’t outrun a bad diet and that is true for any exercise modality/routine.

Electrical muscle stimulation will accelerate your slimming process, in addition to contributing other benefits that your current fitness program doesn’t provide. But not without a balanced nutritional program. In a inactive person, we see big changes in the first weeks of training, thanks to the increase of the caloric expense of proper exercise (increase of the metabolism). Nevertheless if you want to obtain long-term results, that are permanent, it is fundamental that you change your daily habits and take up a healthy life style. Workout often, drink lots of water, balanced nutrition = Body Transformation

We know that with a FITtec.® EMS workout routine you will see results, however it will always depend on you making these changes permanent and making the effort consistently. A lifetime effort to underpin your health and wellness. Lean into to it 100%

3- IT BURNS 3.000 KCAL IN 20 MINUTES:

This is literally IMPOSSIBLE.

Research done at the University of Granada determined that after training with electrical muscle stimulation all study participants increased their basal metabolism. In other words, the participants who were training with EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) were “burning” more calories throughout the day.

This increase became (in the best cases) of 1.000 Kcal per day, for 3 days. Therefore, after only one electrical muscle stimulation training, it can help us to burn 3.000 Kcal over 3 days. In this research, the trainings lasted 20 minutes.

This increase in the metabolic rate (calorie burning) can be used for various body transformation goals, the most popular being, weight loss, toning and losing inches. And then, a by -product of training EMS is full-body strength, so even though your goal may be too slim down, you will always get strong at the same time, making everything you do much easier.  This effect can be interesting also for certain sports men and woman, professional, amateur or weekend warrior.

Therefore, we accept that this verbiage can lead to the confusion of the user and potential clients. We cannot burn 3.000 Kcal during one session of EMS, your body is unable to produce that energy output. We can also accept that training with EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) will increase your weekly energy consumption in a very efficient way. It is not a magic pill, you would still need to invest many hours to reach your goals, just not as many as needed when you are using conventional workout methods.
